Chabru - Competition Brief
(Name, Logo, Illustration, Packaging, Launch Campaign)

Brief
To propose and design a new mass-appeal drinks brand that has a distinctive and engaging sustainability story at its heart. The drink
can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic, but it must fall under one of the following drinks categories: iced tea, coffee, adults’ soft drinks,
pre-mixed, gin or mixers.
Solution
Chabru, an Iced Tea brand that embraces sustainability and positive change. They consider sustainability in all aspects of their product, from where it is sourced, to how it is processed, transported and the materials it uses for its packaging. The brand also works with their Chabru Rainforest Foundation Charity.

Their brand identity takes on a modern Art Deco/Art Nouveau style, linking back to its origins, but is ready to take on a modern
summer as well.

Illustrations
Illustration for the packaging, tea plant (the Camillia Sinensis), the flavour of the iced tea all brought together in a design Inspired by the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements.

The bottle
The bottles would be made from Pulpex, a sustainable, fully biodegradable, recyclable and 100% Pet free material made from wood pulp that has been sustainably sourced.

The grey lines shown on the designs would be embossed onto the bottles. The colour printed areas will use a waterless bprinting technique, which is better for the environment.

Special Edition Bottle
Continuing with Chabru’s links with sustainability and their choice of bottle material, the brand set up a rainforest foundation. Deforestation is one of the most serious issues in Sri Lanka, the fourth largest producer of Tea, so they decided to set up this Foundation to help protect and replant forests that have suffered due to this. All the profits from this bottle would go towards the Chabru Rainforest Foundation.

The design was inspired by the trees found in the rainforests that make up the canopy layer, whilst still including the original Art Deco inspired Chabru pattern.
